UPB provided the facade for the new Carlsberg Group head office in Copenhagen, Denmark. The total area of the four-storey building is 15,500 m2 with underground parking in an area of 7,700 m2.
The impressive element facade consists of large triple-glazed units with integrated electric blinds, and an ALU profile system that allows insulated glass units to be glazed and de-glazed both from the inside and the outside. The facade of the building is made of copper-composite vertical and horizontal lamellas, perforated copper sheets with more than 200,000 hops leaves from the Carlsberg logo on insulated glass units and copper sheets. Approximately 70 t of copper was used in facade finishing materials, approximately 50% of which is recycled materials.
Copper is a material that strongly alters color and hue over time and goes from a classic reddish-brown copper color to a deep red color, and in the long term to a bright greut color. The materials used and execution of the work both fits the Copenhagen architecture and highlights the building amongst others.
